ECHO Volunteers December Newsletter
Hello to all the ECHO Volunteers and welcome to our latest Volunteer Newsletter!
When we first started sending these out we said that we would issue them periodically to keep you up to date with what is happening to the refurbishment of the Hall, about any upcoming significant one-off bookings, volunteering events etc.
We have certainly had an eventful few weeks in which have seen significant changes.
We held an Extraordinary General Meeting on the 3.10.16 in response to a request of some of our Volunteers. The minutes of this meeting have been distributed and suggestions that were made have been acted on. Special Thanks to Lionel Kempster, Bob Berry, Peter Groves and Bernard Marron for their input.
Jim Vann also made us aware that our Treasurer Neal Sharpe had resigned from his post and as a result of this Lionel Kempster volunteered to take on the role. We also co-opted two new Trustees on the night Peter Groves and Vania Burnell. \
Since the EGM on 3.10.16 we have had two further resignations on the board. Peter has decided that he would like to withdraw from his appointment on the Board but will continue to support us both as a Volunteer and in advisory capacity and we are of course very grateful for all his support.
Many of you may now already be aware that Jim Vann has stepped down as the Chair but has also resigned as a Trustee and volunteer with immediate effect. Jim has contributed a lot of time and effort into the work of ECHO and we are sorry to lose him.
Jenny Daniel has also stepped down as Volunteer coordinator. Jenny has been an invaluable help in planning Rota’s and contacting volunteers so that we are adequately resourced, to cover all the various events. It is a time consuming role and there is a lot of work behind the scenes. We want to say a huge Thanks for all the time, effort and support you have given to us.
Vania Burnell has taken over the role and has already been busy setting up schedules.
We are also pleased to welcome Lesley Jones-Berry as a Trustee. Lesley was co-opted as a Trustee at our last Trustee meeting on the 7/11/16 At our meeting on Monday 7/11/16 we had to elect a new Chair. Lesley agreed to cover the role on a temporary basis and was voted in as the Chair.
Changes
The Trustee Board is now structured as follows:
Chair – Lesley Jones-Berry
Treasurer – Lionel Kempster
Secretary – Trish Kelly
Trustees – Jim Rayner, Scott West, Vania Burnell
If anyone would be interested in becoming a Trustee, please speak to any of the current Trustees and we would be happy to discuss what the role involves.
The aim of the Trustee’s is to continue with our plans which include installing new lighting, new windows on the right hand side of the Hall, renovating the gallery to provide additional seating capacity and installing good quality curtains to help with the acoustics and heating and to eventually renovate the stage and the dressing rooms. These changes will take time and will be expensive.
We also want to make the Town Hall a great place to Volunteer. We need your input, so if you have any ideas that could improve your experience please let us know. Vania will be notifying you soon of a Volunteer meeting in the New Year which we hope you will be able to attend
Over the coming months we will be holding our Annual General Meeting and notifications will be sent out in advance.
THANKYOU
To ALL our Volunteers, remember without YOU we would not be able to operate.
Your contribution counts and by being so generous with your time and effort you are making a difference in your community.
