Saturday Café Culture
If you’ve taken the time to look inside Eccles Town Hall on a Saturday morning then you’ll already be aware of the well-kept secret that is the Town Hall Cafe. Excitingly, word of this little haven in the centre of Eccles is spreading and visitor numbers are increasing each week.
Following an extensive refurbishment programme the Eccles Town Hall ballroom and café seating areas have been lovingly restored. Every Saturday morning the Hall invites you to take a seat, enjoy a drink and indulge in the fabulous cakes and jam and cream-filled scones baked by ECHO volunteer David Trelford. Plus, there’s often music from legendary Manchester-based pianist Eileen Guppy (during the summer/school holidays only) and an opportunity to bask in the Hall’s gorgeous surroundings too.
Additionally, Eccles Community Hall Organisation has recently been awarded approximately £60,000 from the SITA Trust to improve the Hall’s kitchen and toilet facilities. A few images from last weekend are below, but why not come along to the Hall’s open day this Saturday 31 August between 9am – 1pm? You’ll be able to see the Hall’s current activities, cafe and venue up-close and hear more about future renovation plans.
