Grant success!
We received the full amount we asked for; we would like to think that this reflects the quality of our application and, in particular, the enthusiastic support given to us by our three referees and our wide network of supporters and volunteers – not forgetting everyone who has held and continues to hold events in the hall in its current state.
The money will be spent on fitting out the kitchen under the balcony to a high standard and on completely rebuilding the toilets. The current temporary lavatories on the right hand side of the stage will be extensively modified and become the men’s toilets. Two rooms on the left of the stage, currently unused and in a dreadful state, will become the ladies toilets. Both will have facilities for the “ambulant disabled”; that is one cubicle on each side will be larger than usual and enable use by those with walking aids etc. There was insufficient space to provide a “fully disabled” toilet on the first floor but ECHO volunteers and hall users have access to a good “DDA compliant” toilet on the ground floor.
We expect the builders to move in shortly. Further details will be posted as work progresses.
