And September So Far…
The second annual Youth Day organised by the Young People’s Council saw events taking place across Salford on 3rd September. Celebrating the positive achievements of Salford’s teenagers, the day featured a cooking challenge on Swinton Civic Lawn, a Worsley canal trip, afternoon tea and a 12 hour football marathon in Broughton. The Eccles Town Hall ballroom hosted the early-evening ‘thank you’ event which brought youth groups from all areas of Salford together. The evening saw plenty of attempts to break some unusual world records, performances from talented young people and a presentation from the Mayor for Salford, Ian Stewart. We’re looking forward to Youth Day 2014 already but in the meantime, details of upcoming events can be found here: http://www.wuu2.info/

The Eccles Tea Dance Group in partnership with Salford Heart Care visited the Hall café and ballroom on 11th September for one of their regular get-togethers. With entertainment, drinks and a £2 admission fee including refreshments, getting out and getting fit has never been so easy! The next event is at Patricroft United Reformed Church on Wednesday 16th October. More information can be found here http://www.salfordheartcare.co.uk/news/eccles-tea-dances/ or by contacting Marion El-Qasem on 0161 789 0281 or Serena Rice on 0161 707 7402
The Town Hall ballroom is perfect for larger lectures and presentations and who better to demonstrate this than the superb broadcaster and speaker Professor Raymond Tallis. Following his recently acclaimed appearance at the Edinburgh Festival and organised by the Salford NHS Support Group this talk on the 16th September concentrated on the risks and impacts of the current changes taking places within NHS and also follows the release of the Professor’s book titled NHS SOS: How the NHS was Betrayed. If you were unable to attend the talk and are interested in finding out how the changes to the NHS affect you then visit: www.facebook.com/SalfordnhsSupportGroup
